What Is a Toner Pirate?

Toner pirates are scam artists whose goal is to talk unsuspecting office staff into purchasing replacement toner that is low-quality or sometimes non-existent. They may call and tell you that the price of toner is about to go up and encourage you to place a large order to save money. They might also offer you a special discount on your order, or offer you free bonus toner cartridges.

How Do Toner Pirates Get Your Information?

They do research about your business and employees, and then call claiming to be your toner supplier. Two of the primary methods toner pirates use when calling are to say they are updating their records, or they want to send you free updated manuals for your copiers. They will then ask for the model numbers of your copiers

How to Avoid Toner Pirate Scams

The best way to avoid these scams is to take advantage of your print providers managed print services. Managed print services keep you safe and informed by helping you understand your print environment. They will teach you how to see through the scams.

Another way to stay safe is to ask for a phone number so you can call them back before placing any orders. Toner pirates will generally give up at that.

It is also important to keep your employees up-to-date on the latest scams as most scam artists are always coming up with new ways to take advantage of people.

There have been different types of studies done in the past by different individuals, and we have reviewed some of them to present a summary of the findings to help you determine the best font for your business’s needs.

In 2012, a tech website conducted a study comparing Garamond, Comic Sans and Courier. They hand drew the same text and size of the fonts with ballpoint pens to compare ink usage. They found Garamond used the least ink and Comic Sans used the most.

How to Defeat Mosquitoes at Your Company Picnic

Are you worried about unwanted, buzzing and stinging guests disrupting your company picnic this summer? We tested a three ingredient home remedy for keeping mosquitoes away that has been making the rounds on social media lately, and it really does work. It’s said that an application lasts 2 to 3 months. It’s been a little over a month since we applied the mixture, and it’s still fending off the mosquitoes very successfully. The best part about it is that is perfectly safe for use on grass, flowers and plants, and it won’t harm children or pets.

Just mix, spray and watch the mosquitoes go away.

 

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of mint mouthwash
  • 3 bottles or cans of stale beer (open a day before mixing and leave out over night)
  • 3 cups of Epsom salt

How to Mix Mosquito Spray

Pour beer, mouthwash and Epsom salt into a large pitcher. Stir until salt is thoroughly dissolved. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle. Shake well before use.

How to Apply Mosquito Spray

Spray the mixture on grass and plants all around the area where your company picnic will be held. Spray it around picnic tables, benches, chairs and outdoor games. If your company picnic is going to be at someone’s home, you can even spray the mixture on decks and concrete patios, and around swimming pools. Do make sure to allow the treated areas to dry before your picnic starts.
